Region & Heritage
Koraput is a country of weavers, brass-casters, painters, and storytellers. Kotpad handloom carries India's first GI tag for Odisha. Dhokra metalwork still flows from cire-perdue moulds in the villages around Jeypore. The Sabara Srikhetra at Koraput, built 1972, holds an open-gate Jagannath form unique to this region. Deomali, the highest peak in Odisha, looks down on every campus we serve.
The University does not treat this heritage as decoration. Our research programmes, our language work, and our Schools of Tribal Studies are built on it.
